Robianni grew up in Pratteln, Switzerland. Pratteln is not far from Basel. He studied at the nearby Beaux-Arts des Balle. The artist lived in New York City from 1985 until 2009 and continues to spend time in Switzerland as well as the United States. His work has been featured in exhibitions in New York City, Miami as well as in Germany, France and Switzerland.
This work is part of a series of Crows the artist completed while staying in Sag Harbor on Long Island over the past few years. Other works in the series also feature a large crow - a central feature - and Robianni's handwriting in the background. This technique echoes Cy Twombly's oeuvre and the effect is dramatic. Other works in the series show a crow superimposed on printed text from books.
